Going Insane (gtr woes)

Hey guys
Ive been having a red battery light pop up since I bought the car from dealer back in January, has happened over 7 times and still no fix from dealer or Benz USA who I’ve been fighting with

not only that but I just bought brand new gle suv from them and on the way to get car two weeks ago my power steering failed putting me in a crazy situation where I had to go mid turn straight into oncoming traffic I couldn’t turn the wheel, it locked up

They fixed that, still no resolution with battery light , Benz USA said pick up your car and dealer said drive around and if battery light comes on, drive straight to the dealer do not turn car off... the light says stop car , and they expect me to drop what I’m doing wherever and whenever this light comes on and go to dealer disregarding the message , if something happens then what? Such negligence

I pick up car today, oil overfill light pops on driving down the road after just getting it lol yet there wasn’t an oil service done.....

My amg gts Ed 1 was perfect, I have an s550 cab which is great , gle now, and have had 3 other new Mercedes all from this Florida dealer group and yet this has been the worst ownership experience I’ve ever had on this gtr after months at dealer and lights on!!!!!!!!

mbusa is no help, what do I do? Go attorney route I guess? I’m second owner however so lemon law I think is out

At my wits end and it’s as if the dealer and mbusa think I’m annoying ???? I dumped Ferrari and mclaren for their electrical gremlins/ issues and love the gt platform, unreal I’m having to deal with this!

Any help?

They tested the battery and said voltage is fine battery checks out however I noticed on my ride home it seemed boost was hitting a brick wall 5-7k 3-4th gear, the power cut off. I’ve read on the forums that can be a soft code stored in ecu and a battery voltage or battery issue? Could that be the cause of this entirely a bad battery that tests good? So confusing

all the best everyone

thanks for listening

Martin

I would try an aftermarket battery.

I went through 2 OEM batteries in my other car (non Merc). Several trips to dealer. Several codes thrown/car going haywire. Got fed up and put a $200 Duralast AGM battery in there myself. No more problems.

Just as a chance, take a look at battery terminals, see if there is any frayed wires, wires touching, or any harness issues. Also lock the doors and see if any lights stay on.

the oil overfill I had that too. It’s no big deal. It can just be a tad bit over and the sensor is super sensitive.

do you know if anyone tuned the car? If they did, you may want to have the dealer flash you back to stock (if they can) or call the tuning comPany for a flash back. Does the car have any exhaust work done?

hey bud thanks for the insight. I’ll take a look myself however after 6 times at the dealer you’d think with all their battery testing and work done they would’ve seen that lol
Nothing surprises me however if they overlooked it!!

Car is bone stock bought from their sister Mercedes store which I don’t like for service.

Pps apparently the amg tech Tomik (he’s a cool guy) is one of best amg techs in the USA or world from what I’ve been told.... Service manager said if he can’t find the issue no one can

This is all just craziness and I think I need to dump the car however at what cost, I’m an honest person and couldnt let someone go thru this and me have to also take a huge hit because they can’t fix the car

Ill look at battery wires and maybe try aftermarket battery first and see if that solves any issues

Thanks all appreciate you guys
stay safe

The GTR uses a Li battery so is very expensive to replace. I would ensure that it is fully charged by using the supplied battery charger; make sure you push and hold the button so that the charger is configured for a Li battery.

if you have continued electrical ‘gremlins’ with a known fully charged battery, I suspect you have an electrical ‘short’ somewhere which is causing all these issues. A couple of owners have had electrical faults caused by a specific wire chaffing against a metal bracket in the rear driver’s side compartment where the first aid kit, etc. is stored. It can be difficult to find/diagnose but when repaired, all issues were cured.

Good luck!

Martin, sorry to hear about this. Hopefully it gets resolved. Are you in S Florida (palm beach, Broward or Miami/dade)? Wondering if we’re working with the same dealer group. I’ve had not so wonderful experiences with New Century Group and Autonation MB dealers.
