2017 AMG GT
Apple Carplay
I have seen apple carplay activated with software that plugs into the OBD, but never on an AMG GT. I have a 2017 GT with the upgraded Burmeister (but not top level Burmeister). Has anyone attempted this and did it work?

Apple CarPlay cannot be software enabled on GT models.
It’s not available pre-MY20 unless installing aftermarket modules like JoyeAuto.

that is what I was referring to in my earlier response.
It's pretty buggy. Tends to "forget" the reverse camera when its activated (the screen will go black) and if a phone call comes through its kind of 50/50 if it works like OEM. Its a black box that connected into the head unit (not ODBII) that they use to cheat the system into a hidden screen that is found when you press the go back button for at least 2 seconds. It connects through the bluetooth/media for sound. I sold the car a couple of months later, but if I had kept it would have removed it.

thanks. I was on a chat with their support people this morning —did not create much confidence. Overall impression was that it was not a “clean” install and ( as you said) would have a lot of bugs. Thanks again.
