Hi,
Any one coming from a SLK? How’s the reliability of the GTs?

Not as reliable as a normally aspirated 172.

Actually just went from AMG GT to SLK55. The GT was splendid reliability wise. My car was tuned and never missed a beat.

2020 S63 Coupe, 911, BMW 760 2022 SL55 2024 Range Rover
I am holding onto my GTS, but the reliability (steering rack going in under 9K miles, oil leaks) has not been what I would call good.

What's wrong with the SLK55? It has the M152 (same thing as M157 without the turbos).

The SLK has many less things to go wrong. From active motor mounts to carbon fiber driveshafts and model specific transmissions the GT is definitely going to be more maintenance.

Oh I agree, although the title was about reliability coming from a much simpler car to one that has lots of proprietary parts that add a bit more costly.

I am a bit misleading in my post as the SLK is just a third vehicle and the better half wanted a convertible. The AMG GT is being replaced by a new 911 Turbo S with an April delivery. I am daily driving the SLK, enjoyable fun tossable car with way too much power for its chassis and tire size.

Knew there was something more to that post.

One of my buds here in ATl got one of first Turbo S deliveries and although I have not been in car it’s supposedly spectacular.

I have opted for the Atlanta delivery experience which includes a couple of hours on their track . I will text you for a meet.

Yep, too many people around me with warranty work being denied because they have after market wheels or an exhaust. I do not need the extra attention a Mac has. I love the fact that I have turned the table around. Rather than having the fast car in the garage all week and drive it on week end, I will daily drive the TTS and use the convertible on the week end. The fact that with just a tune, the TTS will be a super reliable mid 9s quartermile missile sealed the deal .
