Custom wheel sizing question

I am sorry for the likely repetitive nature of this question guys, but I tried researching and couldn't find an answer to my specific question.

My stock set up is front 19" and rear 20" on the 2016 GTS. The tires on there are 265 front and 295 rear.

My goal is put on aftermarket wheels in the same sizing (19/20) and go as wide as possible to nicely feel the wheel gap while being able to reuse my OEM tires on them.

Should I be looking at 19x10 front and 20x11 rear? Will the stock 265/295 tires still fit on these and will there be any rubbing? I want to avoid all rubbing at any cost.

I am not sure what the OEM wheel sizing is specifically. Please let me know what offset I should be looking at.

Thank you kindly.

Do you mean wheel gap between top of the tire and the fender? Or do you mean the fender sticking out about 12/15mm farther than the face of the tire? Im assuming its the later because of your explanation.

If so, you want to change your offset, not your wheel width. Try spacers first 12mm front and 15mm rear to make sure you have the right look. Nothing you do other than lowering the car will get rid of the gap between top of the tire and the fender.

^ Spacers

You can also fit 315s on the stock rear wheels.

@Skilly Thank you for your response. Yes I meant the fender gap to push the wheels to the outside. I know for the top gap, lowering would be the only option.

So what you're suggesting is for aftermarket wheels I can have the exact same specs in terms of width as OEM wheels (front to be 9 and rear to be 11 I believe - please correct me if I am wrong). But it is the offset that will determine how far the wheel will sit, correct? In that regard, could you tell me what offset I should be looking for in an aftermarket set?

I want to change the look anyway and get an aftermarket set, so that's why going the spacers route is not something I am considering. Of course if the aftermarket set has the same width as the OEM wheels, my same tires will be easily transferable.

Thank you.

@kumizi My plan is to burn through the OEM tires first and next time when it's time buy new tires, I will go wider at the back at that point. So good to know that I can fit a 315 tire at the back OE width wheel of 11".

If you want to buy aftermarket wheels anyway, then yeah you dont need spacers.

You can go as wide as 275 in the front. 9.5-10 inches wide.
You can go as wide as 325 in the rear. 11.5-12 inches wide.

The place you order from should know the correct offsets. A lot of vendors dont publish the offset numbers for whatever reason so I'm not sure.

20/20 or 20/21 is usually more popular than going with 19/20.

Our roads are really bad so I want to stick to the 19/20 setup. Eventually if I lower the car it will close up the top gap anyway. I also want to not buy new tires so I want to repurpose my 19's and 20's both but I guess I wouldn't mind doing all 20's and just getting two tires. But I also like the aggressive stance of front being lower than the rear that the car gets with 19/20.

I am trying to order on Vividracing and they ask me what offset I am looking for in a million sets they seem to be able to offer. So, I am just trying to figure out what offset/width etc. should I speck out the front 19's and rear 20's to exactly.

go search stock wheel offset and filter on the GT Roadster/Coupe section - its mentioned several times - other things to consider:

- If you want a custom set of wheels that will flush fit to the fender expect to pay $4500 and upwards to 15,000.
- anything off the shelf may be no better than the current factory offset or slightly better. You may still need spacers
- look on the marketplace here - there were some really nice Signature and BC Forged sets recently for sale in the GT section.
- offsets are different between the GTS/GTC/GTR. Make sure that you spec your car type or they wont fit.

Good luck!
