Emergency brake de-activation

Been tracking my GTC recently and cant work out how to disable the emergency brake feature, not the brake assist, i deactivated that in the menu but the emergency braking feature is still on which is a little disconcerting when coming up on someone a bit quick.

any suggestions? Ive not completely turned off traction control yet so maybe its only disabled when turning tc off completely?

I remember back a while ago someone put tape over sensor area and it cut down e brake activation significantly. Also stops that seatbelt strangulation !

Make sure you are in ‘Race’ mode and ESC is completely Off, not in Sport.

Then go into the DIC and turn off Brake Assist.

Definitely in race mode & DIC brake assist off.

ESC was my question, this is the separate button on centre console? (my reference to TC (traction control) I’ve never turned that button completely off, so is emergency braking linked to this button?

I do know ‘how’ to turn it off funnily, question is, is emergency braking linked directly to it?

Hmmh, maybe something's different with the GT, but the emergency braking (autonomous braking function) is part of the Active Brake Assist and if turned off in the vehicle assistance settings it should all be off. ESP off automatically turns off the Active Brake Assist as well. The following pic is from my 2019 C63S with ESP off. Active Brake Assist is off indicated by the two car symbol with the exclamation point and off at the bottom of the instrument cluster. Like the GT R, the 2019+ C63S has the 9-stage traction control, so TC is still on and I can set it to one of the 9 levels or turn it completely off. That's what the graphic is next to the rev counter. In the GTC if you turn ESP off it also completely turns off TC.

NOTE: The Active Brake Assist turns itself back on when you restart the engine, so you have to turn it off every time.

When all else fails....... metallic tape over your sensors.

In my GTR ESP fully off would not disable the ABA.

Again the steps:
1: Race mode;
2: ESP fully ‘Off’, and
3: turn off ABA in the DIC as it remains on even when 1 & 2 have been done unless you do step 3.

Must be something they changed in the FL models with the introduction of AMG DYNAMICS and the latest generation of the driver assistance and safety systems.
