A Few Catted DP Questions Please

I'm considering these, but I am concerned about a few things...

1) Potential resale value issues
2) Possibly moving back to California and wonder what issues I could have with emissions on a car with 200 cell DP's
3) If the stock DP's can only be removed by cutting them out, that's a headache that I may not want to deal with long-term

Thoughts? Thanks.

All legitimate questions and good of you to be thinking this through to the time of disposal. Times are changing very fast. Many dealers are realizing they're getting stuck with modified cars they cannot resell legally so they're beginning to hard inspect a trade in car. Deleting cats are the worst, especially if it didn't occur to you to save the factory ones. When the time comes, you'll be limited to reselling to private parties or secondary dealers. I know from past posts you are comfortable purchasing in the private party space (so am I), so it might work for you that you can sell that way; however, even a private party would have legal recourse if you sold the car with factory cats removed and they couldn't get emissions passed in their state.

CA, of course, is the absolute worst. As of July 2021, CA now tests for ECU tampering and will fail an emissions test on that alone. The cats delete would be caught in the visual in CA. Also, CO immediately followed CAs lead in the ECU inspection, so two state...and more will follow.

Here is one example:

Again, good of you to think past just today on these type of mods.

Cat removal is a pretty much a thing of the past here....even if it passes the emissions test it will fail if any part of the factory "emissions control system" is removed or modified....so cats, EGR etc.
