I had an actuator seize a few months ago, probably because I tried to enable Sport exhaust immediately after startup in the winter. The code has now been cleared and it works, but I have forgotten how loud (or not) the Sport+ exhaust is on the 2019 GTC.
Can someone with the same model year and model comment if this is consistent with their experiences?
• At idle - there isn't much of a difference in exhaust noise from within the car. From outside, I measured +1 dB from about 2 feet away.
• Above 3000 rpm the difference is noticeable. It's a deeper sound, not necessarily louder, at least from inside the car with the windows up.
Certainly at low rpm (<3000) it's not a huge difference in sound with sport exhaust on or off. And this is on a 2019, which does do the pops and bangs on overrun in Sport+ drive mode (which was significantly reduced in MY2020 and newer).

Agreed. My point was that it’s a subtle change at idle. I normally never turn it on-off, it’s always on. So I’ve never really monitored how it changes.
At higher engine speeds there’s a much bigger difference, which makes sense.

That's what I thought, but I can't remember. I measured +1 dB increase with an iPhone about 2.5 feet behind the car sitting on a coke can. Perhaps someone can repeat this and let me know? Originally Posted by jvojvo

This was with a hot engine. A cold engine will definitely be louder.
thanks

Difference in sound is indeed quite subtle at idle:

And one more- watch at 02:00 when he switches from C to S exhaust at idle. Can’t hear a difference. There is a difference, but it’s minor.
Makes sense that the sound gets more noticeable as rpm increases. At idle, there isn’t much exhaust gas leaving the engine vs higher speeds.
