Another side effect of the move to a flat-plane crankshaft is a new firing order. The 4.0-litre V8 now jumps between cylinder banks, with a 1-8-2-7-4-5-3-6 firing order. This creates uniformly oscillating gas columns which generate a predictable flow of gases through to the turbochargers.

Hi 57 GTR,

thanks, but this is for M178 LS2 with flatplane crank. (e.g. Black Series)

Need the firing order for M178 LS 1 with cross plane crank.

Best regards

Hi 57 GTR,

Thanks, but are you sure? Where did you get the information from?

1-8-4-3- !!!6-5-7!!!-2

Here, 3 cylinders would fire one after the other on the left (direction of travel) cylinder bank.

Is this firing order, with this cylinder counting?

Transmission

4 O O 8
3 O O 7
2 O O 6
1 O O 5

Front of car

Best regards

Stenzel
