I just acquired a GTC and doing that initial detail work, I found a chip on the caliper and this German language decal that says "damage". Is this from the factory?, not sure why someone would label a part as damaged and not replace it.
Yes, that would be from the factory. Was probably spotted during assembly. Not enough to stop the production line, so they noted it and it was supposed to get fixed at the end. There's a separate area at the production line where cars with damaged parts get pulled out and repaired. This car probably had several other damages, but this one was missed during the repair, or the VPC was supposed to repair it and missed it. It happens. I did European Delivery and had a few minor damages at the end of two months, including a scraped driver's door edge. They repaired almost everything at the VPC including the holes in the front bumper from the mandatory front plate, but missed the door edge. Dealer took it to a body shop and got it repaired.
