General: request for an MB part number
Hi,
Thank you for all your help to the people on this forum. I'm hoping you can help me too
I need a part number for the driver side EU spec mirror glass with heating and blind spot detection. Is it something you can help me this?
Thanks!
Hi NYCSoiL,
Thanks.
To all:
Get a lot of inquiries via PM. Like to help.
Please ask such questions in the forum.
It's the same effort, but everyone has the information.
And, maybe someone already has the part number.
Important:
VIN (FIN is better) is very helpful for parts requests :-)
The specs / versions / year of build are often important.
@ NYCSoiL:
You have an 18 GTR according to your avatar. (Modelyear = 2017)
EU spec mirror glass with heating and blind spot detection ->
Part number: A231 810 15 21
Pricetag MB approx.: 480 USD :-( :-( :-(
Best regards
Stenzel

Hi Stenzel,
Very good point you make.
I too have received a fair amount of PMs. I'm always glad to help, then I typically go to a thread where there is a topic on that subject and update it based on the PM exchange I had. It is extra work that way...no problem, I don't mind doing it.
It becomes a shortcut to address an issue as a thread on the forum. Then, as Stenzel says here, it helps out others.
I've also asked the moderators if we could possibly create a general stickie titled DIY. There we can park threads such as the transaxle fluid change and the Speaker modification Stenzel did. That way, any DIYer could check that one stickie to see if a topic is covered.
Moderator is considering it and they are working on other projects as well.
Best,
Acta

Hi Acta,
Thats a great Idea. Its near impossible to find such things later.
Do you mean, that in the sticky posts, old and new, are simply linked?
DIY is timeless enduringly interesting. Even in 5 years.
Best regards
Stenzel

A Stickie can contain multiple threads. This is pretty common on many other forums in which I participate.
So, if the stickie has a title such as DIY, it can contain the several DIYs already in the forum but scattered back months and months. At the top there would only be ONE stickie. Click on it and a list of threads would show. Then just pick the DIY in which you are interested.
Some of the threads that could go in immediately:
Your speaker mod thread
The transaxle oil change thread
The glove box fix thread which is up as a stickie now
The spark plug change thread
Oil change thread with the DIY oil tube ideas
The console removal thread that Mike started if considered a DIY
You did an exhaust thread, gutting the secondary CATS
Hendrik has done a complete motor change thread with pictures that are worth a million.
I know the concern is too many stickies clutter the top, but with this idea, there would only be TWO at top - the picture stickie and a DIY stickie.
Best,
Acta
Here is a DIY thread from another forum. It is a DIY mega thread, all DIYs under one stickie.
** The Official C6 Mega Thread of DIY and FAQ's ..Updated 9/14/16 ** - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion
Just realized I have a couple of DIYS that I've written under this one from a long time ago.

Hi Acta,
Yes, that makes it clearer and much more helpful.
I like FAQs. Always great for "newbies".
A part number tread could also be entered under DIY. Only a DIYer needs these. :-)
Best regards
Stenzel

That's the way to go...

In the Porsche world of those days the 928 model was like the step-child in a family and you couldn't find a dealer or Indie that had anybody on staff that would now how to work on them.
So if that's what you wanted to drive you better knew how to "FIXIT" or forget about it. The net results of this experience for all the 928 owners was (and still is) that their online community for about 85% was made up of DIY guys. Yes, on their site they have Stickies but even better they have a "Sub Forum" called DIY where you can find just about every topic of interest to the DIY guys.
For example see/go to:> https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum-69/ - I think that this may be the best way to go for those that do write ups and for those folks that are interested about any DIY activities here.
The AMG GTx - DIY guys are very lucky to have people like Acta and Stenzel here to answer just about every question they have but by using a sub-forum they will not have to repeat the information they may have provided before.
Happy motoring,
Best H
