new AMG GT63 C192 vs 992.2 Porsche Turbo S

hello everyone

it has been long time since i posted.

the new GT63 C192 is around the corner. it might be released on the 20th Aug 2023 at pebble beach or Sept 2023 at Munich and order book will be open sometime after that.

in my region the current pricing of SL63 is similar to 992 turbo s and the new GT63 it estimated to be priced similar to SL63.

given the price difference is negligible between the new 2024 C192 and the upcoming 99.2 2025/2026 Turbo S which one should i go with? the new C192 with deliveries sometime in 2024

or 992.2 Turbo S with delivery sometimes between 2025-2026 (the allocation time in my region is around 18 months after the announcement of 992.2 turbo s)

there is no chance to take 992.1 now as i won't get an allocation and if i want a used 992.1 turbo s i need to pay a premium which i am not willing to pay

i never driven Porsche Turbo s. however i used to own GTS 2015 for 5 years and 110,000 KM with one time gearbox replacement under warranty!!!!

let me know which one would you pick

992 turbo s. It’s a much better car that the Mercedes given that it’s similarly priced. It also won’t depreciate like the mercedes

I am in a non US and non Euro market. Here the purchase price for both models is similar, and depreciation for the MB is slightly greater (around 10% difference today for a 5 year old car). I have had 3 911s over the years and 3 AMGs.

Financials aside, I think the MB's cabin finish is better and the car is more unique in most markets. Both the V8 and the flat six are great motors, but you may have a preference for one over the other (I like V8s and their sound). On the other hand, the Porsche will outperform the the MB in terms of acceleration and agility. It will likely sell more quickly if you wish to sell it in a few years (that is the case in my market). One consideration for me is the availability of a front end lift. Porsche offers it, not sure MB will (I installed an KW unit and it makes the car far more usable on our developing country roads). Last but not least, dealer service is key. If there is any difference in that sense I would weight that highly. Here both are decent. However, here Porsche offers extended warranties for up to 15 years, something to consider as well. Either way you'll have a great a car.

I think it's great that you're considering either of these cars. However I just can't seem to get my mind around trying to compare the two. They are so incredibly different that for anyone to suggest to you which one to buy doesn't really make much sense. It all depends on you. Do you want back seats? Do you want a 5,500 lb car or a 3,600 lb car? If it's purely a financial decision then I agree with the comments above and I'd go with the 911. If you want to have stealthy sedan speed that is a little more under the radar then I'd go with the AMG. Will it be your primary driver or just one of several? Personally, there is nothing about the GT63 c192 that interests me (well, except for the powerplant). I'm not a 911 fan because there are just so many of them - and no offense but it's almost like a cult following. But between these two choices, I would take the 911 Turbo S all day long unless it was my only car. I always have multiple cars, SUVs, sedans, off-road vehicles, motorcycles, etc etc. If I had to choose between these two and it would be the only vehicle I owned, then I would have to take the AMG. My 2 cents and worth every penny.
