Tips or advice for drag racing GTR first time

Have done a decent amount of drag racing in previous cars. It’s not road racing but still lots of fun. Friend just talked me into going Nov 1st. Couple days after Laguna Seca.

I have played with launch control a couple time. Last night I tried and didn’t seem to work 🤷‍♂️. Tried with TC full off. Car was warmed up plenty. Maybe I should just go with TC full off and forget LC ? Can you even do a regular burnout to heat tires in the GTR ? Saw mention of dyno mode in another thread.

Tires , Couple options. CRS V2 that have two track days on them. Factory wheels. Or Hoosier A7 which I think would do better but hate to drive them 4 hours round trip and doing burnouts ….
last option is to put my 2 day old AR1 on my A7 wheels. Think they would do better than CRS and I don’t care about them. Have to pay to swap the tires twice if I go this route. I cut 1.65 60 foot on NT01 in my stock C7Z and ran 10.83 ….

Thoughts ?

2018 GTR. Downpipes , pure 900 turbos and tune

LC is a waste of time.
Too much to fiddle with when you are trying to line up. .
That said, the one time I took my GTR to the strip, I got loads of wheel hop on Cup 2s.

With these cars there is a lot of built in torque management. With other cars I usually leave on the 3rd amber (more or less) to cut a good reaction time.
With the GTR I had to leave on the second amber since the car is so slow reacting to WOT. If your car is tuned I would imagine some of the torque management has been dialed out.

Also, trick to doing a standing burnout where I hold down the brake, floor the gas. then lightly let up on brake until car engages, then modulate brake and gas to do standing burnout.
Did this lots with my old BMW M5 at the track. Takes some practice.

Thanks 👍. My cls is a nightmare to do LC. Building boost up on grippy track with grippy tires would def help get better time.

so tc full off for burnout ? 9 lights on dial ?

As others have learned, the GT R isn't a drag racer. German performance cars in general aren't drag racers. Nobody really drag races in Europe. It's not a thing. Race Start is set up to take off on a racetrack as quickly as possible w/o burning up the clutch. More like how F1 cars take off at the beginning of a race. It builds boost and eases in the clutch for quick take off, but with only RWD you likely get wheel spin, so you can play with the traction control and find the sweet spot between traction and torque. With TC fully off, you'll just get a bunch of wheel spin unless you have sticky tires. With the PFL engaging Race Start is also cumbersome as mentioned above. In the FL it's just feet on the brakes and throttle, then off you go.
