Trunk organzation

Hey folks I just picked up a GTC and I'm looking forward to the nicer weather arriving. Thinking forward, does anyone have anything they use in the trunk for help with organization or tie downs etc? The golf clubs are still stored away, but just trying to figure out how they'll fit within and how to maximize what little space is available. What about any ways/products to protect the stabilizer bar assuming the golf clubs will have to run north/south?

If you take your woods out of the bag it will lay east and west. I have a roadster which is even less trunk space and put the woods in the passenger seat. LOL

There's a cargo net that attempts to keep cargo from flying towards you into the passenger cabin. Supposed to come with the car. But that alone doesn't keep stuff from flying around in the trunk. I actually don't know what the tie down hook situation is in the GT trunk, but the best way to secure loose items in the trunk is to tie them down with a net. FWIW, that's essentially what I do in my C63S coupe. I keep my small loose items in the OEM foldable crate that came with the car and tie it down with the net, so it all stays in place.

For reference, something like this is essentially kinda what you want if the GT has tie down hooks in the trunk.

I jumped in the trunk (actually) and took a look tonight a little more as well for this and possible securing points etc.. I did find a retractable mesh pocket attached behind the driver's seat. Bonus! Should be good for a cell phone and a candy bar.

I picked up a couple of jugs of oil today amongst other things lighter things, driving around nothing stays still on the bare carpet. My e550 has a little mesh pocket that's mounted to rails in the trunk. But I also have an oem liner in there so things stay put

I ended up ordering some some adjustable mesh pockets that mount with velcro, so hopefully that'll do for the few items that can move and cause potential problems. Also some straps to secure other things.

I use the luggage net from the S-Class part number 222-868-00-74 which fits perfectly into the GTC trunk.
You will also need to buy 4 hooks to attach into the carpet as anchor point for the net. I used this from Amazon

Given my uncertainty about drilling into the metal under the trunk carpet, I opted to shorten the screws slightly (to 5/8") and fasten them into the carpet without drilling. This ensured a snug fit. I then applied epoxy glue into the hole in the carpet, around the screw, and at the bottom of the hook. After allowing it to dry, the net and medium size cargo held securely while driving. However, I am not sure about its ability to secure cargo in the event of an accident. I highly recommend using the OEM GTC cabin safety net for added assurance.

It is interesting that they gave us such a huge trunk but anything we put back there is a potential missile 🤣
