... and, to protect yourself, you'll also want to acquire/use a HANS device.

It is sad. Fortunately, most crashes on track are 0.1% occurrences.
I’ll say what I have said before, when someone wants to add harnesses they are usually trying to accomplish a goal of being more safe. I have seen more than one GT owner tie harnesses to the Cross Bar and loop them through the stock AMG seat on the way to a self fabricated floor anchor. I would rather run the stock 3 point belt and take my chances. The challenge with adding harnesses without adding everything else is that you are not making yourself safer. In some cases it may even be more dangerous. By everything else I’m not saying a hans. I’m saying cage/half cage, proper seat, hans and harnesses. Yes, by adding harnesses it may feel like you are being held in the seat better and by wearing a hans you may feel like you are limiting your head movement and therefore protecting your neck but it’s smoke and mirrors in an accident.
The AMG GT seat in the US does not appear to be made for harnesses. The holes in the upper seat look like they are but it appears to be cosmetic where the belts would pass through. The pieces on the front and back are plastic trim. At the speed that our cars can go on track, the likelihood that forces being generated in a crash are going to crush those trim pieces is very high and if they do, it’s a big problem for the driver. It negates everything that the hans is trying to do to protect your head. All I want is for people to be informed so they can have fun on the track. At some point you are going to crash. It’s inevitable if you are pushing.
Just give yourself the best chance to survive that you can.
