Two Irritants (Electronics)
Two non-critical issues are pestering me (three, if you count the fact that Apple CarPlay sometimes won't connect until I reboot my iPhone). The first is the stalling of the Software Update at 98%. When I noticed an update was available, I drove the car a bit and when I first looked at the display it was at 95%. Several hours later, it has climbed to 98% but will go no further. Mine is a 2020 AMG E53 Coupe, so I can't update using my phone. It's just stuck and taunts me with that 98% completed status.
The second is the parking camera. When the car was new, the camera(s) would engage when I opened my garage door. But now they don't. According to the Manual, "If indicator lamp 1 is not lit, Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is active. If the indicator lamp is lit or the é symbol appears in the multifunction display, Parking Assist PARKTRONIC is not active." My indicator lamp is always lit, which suggests the Parking Assist is inactive. However, I cannot seem to activate it. I press the button, hold it, release it, but it stays lit. I'm due for service in 175 days, so unless I can figure out what's going on with it, I may need to have it looked at. Any ideas? On either?

For the update issue that's fairly normal. I'm assuming you are talking about map updates. They've gotten larger over the years and installing the OTA update takes forever now. I skip it by manually downloading the map update onto an SD card and then install it in the car. The update from the SD card takes about 20-30 minutes for a complete update. Much faster. The OTA update only updates your home region.
Not sure what's wrong with your Park Assist, but sounds like it's malfunction. After starting the car, it should always be ON by default (LED off), so if the LED is lit in yours all the time, then the system is malfunction. You'll have to hook up a diagnostics tool and read out the error codes.
I have an SD card slot, but how do I get the updates downloaed?
