Decrease Oil Level

I've had my 2020 GT convertible for 4+ years (and before that a 2018 GT coupe for 3 years). While the warning about too high the oil level no longer appears after a service (it took 3 years but the mechanics at my dealer finally started doing it correctly), it surprisingly appeared for me yesterday.

I normally drive the car as a daily driver in comfort, but recently I began going to S+ and manual shifting. After maybe 15 minutes of vigorous driving (for me), the warning came on. WTF? I turned it off, and it didn't return, but I wonder if my oil started to foam. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

The car has about 4500 miles on it. My last service was in July.

My experience with a GTR Pro is that the sensor is wrong, assuming that the dipstick/instructions are correct. I've found that, following the instructions for warming the engine and taking the the dipstick reading within the specified time, if you fill to the top/full dipstick level you'll likely get that over-fill warning after driving for a while. Personally, I just ignore it. Since the car is primarily for tack use, I want the oil to be full.

The service manager at my dealership says they normally fill only to the halfway mark specifically to prevent this issue and the resulting customer returns (and loss of confidence). From what I've seen online, I suspect my fill-level vs overfill message experience is common.

I encountered a similar issue last year, about three months after an oil and filter service. Rarely and unexpectedly, the overfill warning would appear. I ended up siphoning out around 250mL of oil while the engine was warm, which resolved the problem. I believe the oil level was slightly overfilled, triggering the sensor when the oil expanded, possibly exacerbated by bumps on the road.

I've driven the car at least 500 miles since the summer service. Why would I be told now that the oil has been overfilled?

Mine showed up a few times after an oil change some 4 months and 6 months later. I siphoned a little maybe one time and rely on the dipstick. So far it's been good.

Btw slight off topic, how are the canyon roads these days in Malibu post franklin fire?

I've driven Mulholland Highway to Kanan-Dume (via Encinal and Troutdate as I think Mulholland is still blocked from an old slide after The Rock Store), and up Stunt Road as well as Piuma. Everything seems to be reopened. Yesterday there appeared to be a 25-30 car exotics "parade" on Mulholland Highway that had McLarens, a GTR, Lambos, tons of Ferraris, pretty much everything except a Bugatti; I suspect they were checking it all out.

Scott: I’ve got two AMG GT’s, a 2019 GTC coupe and a base 2019 roadster. I’ve had the same experiences with oil overfill warnings. I think most dealers have figured out about grossly over filling oil. I found if it’s slightly overfilled, you’ll get the high oil level message when you’re driving harder. My guy says 6.9 quarts is the sweet spot.

And to think that I had the dealership's AMG mechanics trained with the 2018. Overfilled again!

Supercar Sunday happens every week at Pierce College so perhaps they had a special meet planned for the day you saw them.

Warning! Explicit Photo!

I attempted to forge my glove to my hand whilst checking the oil. Stupidly had the hood open at the equilibrium point where it could go up or down and when I tried to remove the dip stick it went down trapping both my hands. Yelled for help for 15 minutes and eventually a lady drove by my open garage and lifted the hood. Bear in mind i am in my EWC (electric wheelchair)
Any way, I had added a quart of oil when the display told me to do it. Made a mess of it and probably only got 2/3rds of it in. After driving it for awhile the display says to reduce the amount of oil! When I manually check it the stick shows it is not overfilled.
I'm convinced that these conflicting messages are just guidelines.

Not to state the obvious, but you are receiving medical attention for your injury?

Yes, thank you. This occurred 9/29 this year. Got infected 10/23, went to urgent care where I received a whopping big shot in the butt of antibiotics and two oral antibiotic medications and one antibiotic cream.
The wound developed a big thick scab that eventually fell off. Pretty much healed now.

I've been driving these roads every Sunday for the last 2+ months and haven't encountered any closures.

I missed yesterday so I plan on going New Years day and next Sunday. The only other GT I've seen was an orange Black Series on PCH in Malibu.
Thanks, it's just at the itchy stage.
