I recently retrofitted the NTG 5.5 COMAND head unit in my 2019 AMG GTR to get the digital cluster and infotainment setup from the newer 2020+ AMG GT models. The upgrade brings a cleaner, more modern look and Apple CarPlay, which was a big plus. But as with most retrofits, there were a few small issues (odometer was displaying "-----" and the digital oil monitoring system wasn't working).
I dug through the forums and kept seeing the same name pop up: Peter from BenzNinja. Decided to give him a try, and honestly, he lived up to the hype.
Peter actually knows what he’s doing. He doesn't just do copy/paste coding, but actually writes and tweaks code specifically for your car. He fixed all the issues quickly and hooked me up with a bunch of extra features I didn’t even plan on:
Mobile Phone Tethering
Transmission - last mode remember
Problems and Faults repair
On demand SCN coding for any module
HeadUnit & Cluster Car conversion CAN>USA
Disabled ECO Start / Stop
He offers two options:
1) Rent a BenzNinja kit (Laptop and the MB Star C4 Plus diagnostic tool) for $150 and pay per mod, or
2) Get the lifetime membership for $500, which includes $500 worth of mods anyway, so it basically pays for itself. You will have to buy your own laptop and C4 device.
Peter made the whole process smooth and stress-free. If you're doing serious Mercedes retrofits or coding, highly recommend!

The NTG 5.5 retrofit package include an OEM IC, OEM Comand 5.5 Head Unit Unit, OEM Middle screen and wiring harness/adapters. It costs $4k from CryptoAutoService. They are an official partner of Carsystems who manufactures the retrofit adapters for the IC and Steering Wheel.
You can do installation yourself if you are comfortable removing the IC, Radio Unit, and middle screen. Otherwise you can pay a shop to do it. It will take 8-10 hours of labor and requires modification (cutting/trimming edges to fit perfectly in our W190).

I like the tach front and center. I would like to see the oil and gearbox temperatures in that side panel
I like this view with the speedometer on the left and useful information on the right side. For the middle section, I usually have odometer or music so I can easily toggle between songs with my steering wheel buttons.
