Price to do Fuel injectors

I wanted to post the price to do all the fuel injectors. FCP Euro has the injectors and the seal kits and that came to 1560 plus tax. The seal tool kit was 100 plus tax off Ebay. And the Icarsoft MB4.0 was around 260 plus tax on Amazon. Surprisingly there is not a ton of hand tools needed BUT a magnet you can stick to the side of your sockets is VERY important so you dont drop screws.

It took me about an hour either side to have the injectors out and an hour to reinstall so a total of about two hours for one side not pushing myself. IF I had not ever changed the spark plugs (a lot of the same steps are involved in that job) then the job might have taken a couple more hours each side because I was meticulous the first time I had this stuff apart. After the first time it is much easier to do the job.

Katie,
First it was injector 5, then 6 and then 3. They failed one after another, or possibly all were bad? Do you track the car, or had some aggressive tuning that stressed the injectors? I have the base ‘18 GT with about 50K but I believe the engines are the same on GT and GTC. Btw why did you change the spark plugs? How did they look?

The spark plugs are to be clanged by spec at 50k miles if i remember correctly. They are in excellent condition when you change them (as they were in my 16 Maybach) do to being iridium tip plugs. What is very important though is preventing the plug threads from seizing in the cylinder head so I have to assume thats why MB calls for plug changes at 50k. It is probably reasonable to assume that you could re use the old ones and just put a tiny bit of anti seize on the threads. I will say that doing the plugs the first time is a big job and thats why I simply changed them.

So I have auto crossed my car a couple times and that is all. IT is 100% factory stock.

AS far as getting 5,6 misfires and not three then later after replacing drivers bank injectors and only having 3 cylinder misfire. I can only assume that cylinders 5,6 were clogged worse and would throw the computer into linmp home mode before three ever appeared.

If I remember I will post the printout of the TBS the Mercedes Tech printed out for me at the dealer when i brought the ignition coil for cylinders 5,6. He was trying to tell me I did not need an ignition coil and I should be focusing on injectors and he was completely correct. As the TSB indicates and the tech telling me he sees bad injectors all the time on this engine it turns out be be a common problem.

If anyone needs a good ignition coil i got one, smiles.

PS the engines are the same from the gt and the gtc but the gtc has 550hp and if I remember the gt has like 480 or somethings around that I cant remember exactly. And as you might already know this engine in some form is finding its way into a lot of other MB models.
