discolored plastic skirts/trim
I have a question about how to treat some of the flat black plastic skirts/trim areas on my SLK. Below the rear bumper is a flat black, plastic area that is now becoming pale and streaky. I will try to post pics later today.
Is there anything I can use on this to restore its color? Ditto for the door handles, which are also fading a bit.

buy some peanut oiil and a spray bottle. put the peanut oil in the bottle and spray where you want to achieve the darker more rich color. ( i used it one my 124 grill, i didn't have a toothbrush that i wanted to use , you can just use a microfiber towel or an applicator pad if you want) then work it in for about a minute, don't hose it off. leave it on for about 20 minutes then give another little scrub and you will hack a nice dark color. this also works if you accidently get some wax onto your trim. don't leave the product on as it is oil and it will attract little animals if left overnight. try to work on a hot day. good luck.

Thanks for the reply, however.....
Is there an alternative to the peanut oil? I'm allergic. I love my car but not enough to get me sent to the ER.
Are you saying the wax can be used to darken the bumper?

I use tire shine. Not the spray and leave on kind but the really thick kind that you apply with a brush or a towel. It's not permanent, but I just do it everytime I wash the car. And it looks really black black. One downside it tends to attract more dust onto it if you don't garage it.
