Packing tape left adhesive on wheels...

My wheels were shipped with the tough transparent packing tape used to seal boxes. The tape was wrapped around a portion of the wheel itself. When the tape was removed, some adhesive was left behind, which was not noticeable, but it is now collecting brake dust/road dirt, and looks terrible.
Can you recommend a solvent that will remove the sticky stuff without damaging the finish of the wheels?
The wheels are not chrome, but a semi-gloss OEM 5-spoke silver type.

3M-#08984-General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, 1 US Quart

Good stuff.

Use goo gone soaked on a rag or paper towel..........wet it thoroughly with the GooGone so that it sticks to the surface.......wait a little while and it should slide off without rubbing. Most hardware stores, grocery stores, and even Home Depot have it.
