Orbital Polishers and clearcoat

Is it wise to use an orbital polisher on a clear coat? I was thinking about getting a detailer to do a full detail as I have some bad swirls on my car but someone mentioned that detailers usually aren't very careful with clear coats.

Any advise much appreciated.

If the polisher is designed for cars it should be fine. Porter-Cable makes a nice one.

I would check out the detailer - maybe look at some cars he's worked on. Many cars nowdays have clear coat.

I bought the Orbital buffer from Meguiars and used it to apply the cleaner, polish and wax, came out great and you do not have to worry about burning the paint. Great for removing marks and comes out as well as having a pro do it. I am sold.
