I have a few questions

Hello, I bought a new c55 last month and I want to get it detailed and I have a few questions. First I live on long Island and I used to use westbury car wash and I was always happy with there work but they have become very expensive. Also I it seems that many people on here clay bar and they do not they use compund. I was going to try longIslanddetailing.com which is a mobile detailer that use zaino and caly bars have any of you guys ever used them I am a little nervous to use someone new on a brand new car. Also it seems that there is some overspray on the top of the drivers side door like it was not color sanded well would the clay bar fix this or would compounding be better. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I do not know about that detailing outfit.....I drive a C230 Sport Sedan....I had some body work done on it last year (a long and sad story)....there was overspray all over the car, and clay baring took it all off like magic. You should try it...just use lots of detail spray when you do it so the clay does not stick when you rub it on the body.

But, if you are going to take it to a detailer anyway, then just have them do it.

But, as for me, I really do enjoy detailing my car. It is therapeutic for me. One of these days, I may even take a class on it. For example, I am not quite sure of the difference between polishing, waxing and glasing and why all that is really necessary.

Scott, there are some great articles on polishing, waxing, etc on autopia.org and properautocare.com. Check them out, they are great resources

Thanks for the info but do you know the difference between clay bar and compounding I have always had my cars compounded before this one and then I came on here and saw that everybody was using the clay bar.

Thanks again.

I know, but it is still rather confusing. Since I do enjoy being fussy about my car's appearance, I guess I should bit the bullet and do a full polish and then wax. Then, I can see what it looks like.

Thank you, though, for helping me out.
