My car is Obsidian Black and I'd like to get the grill to match that exact color ('06 CLS500). Can this be done at home? Where would one purchase the paint from? Also, is there a certain type of paint (brand) to go with? What is the prep for this type of job? I want to paint the star black as well. HELP!!! and Thank you in advance!

If you're sure you want to do this, you can get spray cans of paint in your car's exact color from the paint code at most autopaint supply houses...check the yellow pages for PPG or duPont. I'm sure you know to remove the items you're going to paint, etc. Custom made up cans of spraypaint should run about $18-20 + you'll need a commercially off the shelf clearcoat spray.

Sounds like you have little experience with this. I would suggest a body shop. If its only the grill it should be pretty cheap and you will probably be much happier with the results.
