two testimonials (ScratchX and Calif. Water Blade)

i used both ScratchX and the California Water Blade today.

California Water Blade
DO NOT USE THIS ON YOUR CLEAR COAT!!! it will scratch it. it left very tiny little scratches on my car in several spots. it's GREAT for glass. highly recommended for windows. it may work well on hard clear coats, but as we all know, MB clear coats are very soft.
If you do use this on your clear coat, it's no big deal, it doesn't completely ruin your car (see my review of scratchx below).

Calif. Water Blade - 10/10 for glass
1/10 for painted portion of car - get yourself some good, big microfiber towels to dry your paint

ScratchX by Meguiars
Here is the good news. ScratchX COMPLETELY (and i mean completely) eliminated the scratches caused by the water blade. just wipe on, wipe off. now you see why i wasn't too upset about the scratches made by the water blade. they're already gone. if you have minor scratches in your clear coat. scratchx will kill them, but is pretty useless on major scratches. and it's safe to use on your entire car as a paint prep. highly recommended. makes your paint look brand new if only minor swirl marks are involved.

ScratchX - 10/10 - it does exactly what it says it's gonna to do

My comments:

The California Water blade itself does no scratching. On a 100% clean surface that is drenched with water, it works as advertised. However, I believe that it is other particles that causes the scratching. These cannot be helped. So in the end, good advice on the CWB. Keep it for windows if you want.

Scratch-X is extremely mild, anything more than the finest scratch will take some rubbing. I would not call it a rub on rub off product. Also, it does have some oils. Next time you wash your car, the scratches could reappear. Overall, I agree that it's a good product, but I hope newbies don't go and try rubbing their paint with a poor quality towel and create more scratches.

Good testimonials.

Wipe the CWB with a towel b4 each swipe and you should not get any major scratches in your clear. It may cause some micromarring, but that would only be visible on black. On my blue and green cars, I have not seen any CWB damage.

BTW, nothing is perfect. MF towels will cause micromarring on your finish as well. No more or less than the CWB.
