Discoloration of black plastic trim around rear window
I've got a 02 E55 and the black plastic trim piece around the rear window is losing its color and turning dark purple. Anyone else have this issue? I took it to a detailer and he said there was nothing I can do.

Are you sure it is plastic, not metal? We should have the same trim, and mine is turning a dark purple also. Plus the black trim beneath my windows is doing the same thing. I found that Meguiar's NXT All Metal Polysh helps temporarily. You can also try a cleaner wax, which I have used, but the NXT stuff works better. I think eventually these will turn a bronze color (somebody posted a pic of his E430 some time ago). I was told the same thing by my dealer's deatail shop, and that to fix it, we have to buy new trim.
