Detailing and ClearShield paint protection film
I am new to detailing. I recently purchase and recieved the PC 7424 advanced kit along with various detailing products from Detailed Images.com and I am excited to get started on detailing my car and having it all ready for winter.
I am situated in the NorthEast (Montreal,QC to be exact) and I am so not looking forward to winter driving conditions and what it has done and will do to my car. So, as an added protection from stone chips, I had a local dealer install a clearshield paint film protection kit (1/4 of the front hood, front bumper and left/right fenders) on the car.
Now, I am unsure if I should completely avoid this clearshield paint protection film throughout the detailing process. Here's what I plan to do with the car in preparation for the winter months ahead.
1. Wash and dry with poorboys maxi suds II
2. Meguiar's claybar
3. Poorboys SSR1 fine polish to remove fine swirls.
4. If SSR1 does not do the job, move to SSR2 and then SSR1
5. Seal with Jetseal 109 (at least 2 coats)
6. put a coat of carnuba wax.
I figured that I should avoid the clearshield paint protection film on step 2,3,4
However I'm not sure what the impact would be if I use Jetseal 109 on the clearshield paint protection film. Would it harm it or add the wet/glossy look thereby keeping everything uniformed. I am concern of course that that there will be a very noticeable difference between the parts with the paint protection film and the rest of the car.
Also, it's getting colder here rather quickly. At what temperature should I be applying the products, specially Jetseal. My car garage has tons of stuff and I won't be able to pull it in there. However, I am putting a car snow shelter right on the driveway all the way up to the garage door. I was thinking of running a heater in the shelter during the detailing process but once I complete the detailing process, how much longer should I heat the shelter?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
