How to debadge

Heat the emblems with a hair dryer, the use dental floss behind the letters. Use a sawing motion to remove each letter/number. Any adhesive on the paint can be removed with a product called Goo Gone.

Some badges, including those on my '85 190E, are mounted with pins that fit into holes in the trunklid. Other models are merely glued on, so the floss or fishing line method may not work. I haven't used GooGone on a car, but I do have good experience with 3M's Trim Adhesive Remover (which I guess is the antidote to their terrific Trim Adhesive).
