How to debadge

Is it easy to debadge the letters and numbers on the trunk of a MB? How is this safely done?

Heat the emblems with a hair dryer, the use dental floss behind the letters. Use a sawing motion to remove each letter/number. Any adhesive on the paint can be removed with a product called Goo Gone.

Thanks Lynn. Could Goo Gone hurt the paint?

No, it is pretty gentle, just wash the area after you remove the badges.

Some badges, including those on my '85 190E, are mounted with pins that fit into holes in the trunklid. Other models are merely glued on, so the floss or fishing line method may not work. I haven't used GooGone on a car, but I do have good experience with 3M's Trim Adhesive Remover (which I guess is the antidote to their terrific Trim Adhesive).
