Windshield damage-to fix or not to fix?

Something impacted my windshield today, leaving a 1/4" blemish (pictured next to a penny). Most of the damage is in the thickness of glass, although the surface isn't smooth, I can feel a tiny notch with my finger.

Is this bad enough that it can lead to a crack? Should I have it fixed?

I would get it fixed just for safety reasons and those cracks can get bad. Insurance usually covers glass 100%.

yep - I called safelite to fix a nick in my windshield in my Infiniti FX before I sold it - I was fully ready to pay the $130 but they proactively called my insurance for me, who agreed to cover the cost with no deductible - a free fix that was worth it.

Neat! Thanks. I'll take care of it next week.
