film on headlights

I recently purchased a 2009 GL and the headlights are in brand new shape - would like to keep it that way. I'm thinking about applying a film - xpel or 3m to protect it. But I also read on some other forums about some concerns about platic headlights cracking due to their inability to release heat. Anyone have any thoughts on this - and what the best film might be for headlights/optical clarity?

There is absolutly no scientific basis for this.

Xpel (or equivalent) headlight protection provide excellent protection from stone chips etc

Is xpel the most clear or are they all about the same?

I have Xpel on mine. Completely clear. Can't compare it to the others since I've not tried them.
