Scion FR-S Detailed by Reflections Detailing: Opti-Coat

First of all, I want to tell everyone that if you are taking delivery from Cambridge Scion... Make sure you tell them, yell at them, and put it in paperwork to not touch the car. Dealer claims to have not done any prep, but there was insane swirls for a brand new car. Car was in poor shape for being a day old, it was sad to see this.

Wash:
CG CWC + MGS Green Stuff
Zymol Wash Sponge
Dread lock MF Mitt

Wheels:
Meguiars APC 4:1
Brown Royal 2:1
Raceglaze Wheel Brush + Lug Nut Brush
EZ Wheel Brush
Tire Brush
PERL 1:1
CG Barebones

Decontamination:
IronX+IronX Gel
Ricardo Yellow Claybar
ONR Clay Lube

Polishing:
Menzerna Power Finish on White
OPT Metal Polish on tips

Protection:
Opti-Coat 2.0 on all wheels, headlights, tail lights, badges, trim, glass
1Z Gummi on all seals

Vehicle overall clean.

Thought it looked great actually.

Claimed to be unwashed... Now thats trouble.

The damage.

Visible wash swirls.

Trunk was the worst!

A wash to kill all beading.

Cleaning up all areas.

After washing.

Client pulling in the garage.

IronX Sprayed on... Super smelly in the garage.

Tons of iron!

Common on these cars.

Yes. Even here.

A rinse to remove the residue.

Time to clay, brand new Ricardo Yellow.

Picked up extremely little.

Taped up and ready for some polishing action.

Hopefully you can see the extent of that dealer wash.

The needed combo.

Same area, after.

Panel cleaned up well.

Yeah... the car was not washed. BS.

Much loving was done.

Tire dressing soaking in.

Added a ton of gloss from polishing.

Time to Opti-Coat this baby.

Shining bright!

Looking much better than before.

The perfection is in the reflection!

Thanks for looking! And remember not to let the dealer touch your car on delivery.

wow

Wow, nice job. Looks like a great shine and deep for a light color.

1. How much Opti 2.0 did it take? I see detailers putting like 3 drops on an applicator for an entire fender and find it hard to believe it's really covering.

2. The amount of iron on the paint was incredible for a new car---yuck.
My wife has new Honda Accord coming in Silver Metallic. Are you finding made in US Hondas having that much iron contamination?

7cc went for the windows, paint, trim, and wheels. Once you have the applicator saturated you need extremely little. I used a thin cloth over a foam applicator covered with a latex glove. Prevents it from soaking wasted product.

The more travel the car takes the more iron. Most commonly from the rail the cars travel by. The closer you are the factory, theoretically the less iron you car will have.
