Machine Polishing Frustrations!

Hey. I'm struggling with my machine polisher! The car looked great when I had finished it, but now in direct sunlight, I can see the lines where the machine polisher went.

Any ideas what is causing this? I am using a 'dimple' type pad, on a medium speed, with dodo lime prime, and very little pressure.

The sides of the car look fine, but they don't get direct sunlight, so probably have the same 'trail'.

Oh, and the car is black.....

Help!

Holograms - (also called buffer marks or buffer trails) which are scratches but these scratches are micro-fine patterned scratches which are caused by a high speed polisher and an operator who doesn't know how to properly finish down their work. They take on a 3D effect and if the car is moving or you move around the car they seem to "flow" through the paint.

Using a random orbital polisher a soft finishing pad and a lght abrasive polish should remove them

Thanks. I will try to remove them tomorrow.

But what part of the operation caused them? Too high or low machine speed, to high or slow movement, pad type?

Any advice appreciated.

Please explain more about your pad? You said 'dimple type', but what brand, color, etc...

Also, which polisher are you using?

As babyman1737 intimated "What am I doing wrong" is far too vague a description to help you; without prior knowledge of your polishing process (machine, speed or RPM, pad type, polish or compound, and etc)

I'm assuming he is talking about one of the Lake Country CCS pads or a similarly designed pad.
