For the vinal and plastic you might want to try WD40. I know it sounds rediculous but it works. I've used it for over 10 years detailing and it works great getting rid of tar on the outside of paint and marks on interior vinal from pens.

For the cloth I'd try and find a cosmoline remover. I've used this to get pen marks off cloth and leather interiors. It might work for the paint on the cloth. The most important part is to apply the product to a cloth not the surface and test it in a inconspicuous area. You should be able to find this at Home Depot. FYI cosmoline remover is basically a glue remover that's used for all kinds of things but at dealerships they use it to remove glue from all the plastic new cars are wraped in.

Good Luck

Whoops

Still, it all worked out in the end by the sounds of it.

Saw this on another non-automotive site - it's still spreading

About the Paint

I don't know if you already cleaned your car, hopefully you did.

What you might want to try on the non-cloth surfaces is acetone. Its a relatively easy chemical to get, and should wipe if off of hard surfaces with no discoloration IF USED SPARINGLY.

For the cloth though, my best guess is to use a detergent called Tergazyme. I use it in my lab, and it chews up polymers like they're nothin. Let it soak for a couple of hours. This is a bit more difficult to get however.

Also, look at the As Seen on TV ads for those chemicals that can clean anything, give those a shot as well, you got nothing to lose I guess.

At least everything worked out well for you.

I can't believe how many forums have posted and how many people have seen this someone should make a link page with all these car forums.

Greetings

What a shame. I feel your pain. Now what do we do when we must transport paint? Put it in a plastic bag and strap it down in the trunk. Look at it as a chance to upgrade your interior.

I have about 20 different substances to remove this kind of contamination. Each is effective under different circumstances and requirements but fabric and carpet are tough no matter what.

Good luck, still a nice car.
