Universal Anti freeze?

What's changing about our cars that requires a different type of anti freeze?
The green stuff is now some how outdated and the new universal pink stuff is promoted as better for your cooling system because it resists rust among other things.
In addition I understand you are not to mix the green with the pink, anybody with any solid knowledge on the new Universal Anti Freeze?

Use ONLY MB antifreeze. MB uses many special alloys in their engines. Forget "universal". Unless you have a very old MB you are not required by MB to change up to 15 yrs. Follow your maintenance schedule in your book.
