Windshield repair

Hello All,

This is part of the thread I started on the paint chip repair. Given that my windshield was damaged, I need to find a place to repair it. Given that I have Allstate insurance they are pushing me toward Safelite. I used them in the past and the last vehicle there was quite a bit of wind noise afterwards. They told me that I was just looking for it now that a repair had taken place. Also the rain sensor cover never fit correctly again.

I was thinking of taking it to the dealership. They told me that they have someone come in who does all of their cars. I am thinking that maybe they would be well tuned for repairing Mercedes windshields. Also they would only use OEM glass which is something I wanted. I am thinking that I could hold the dealership more accountable than some glass company.

What would you guys do? Go with the dealership or a glass company.

BTW I live near Ann Arbor if that helps with any recommendations.

Go to MB dealer. Insurance should be paying for it. Either way MB can not CPO your car when you trade if it has other than MB glass. This would affect your trade-in value.

Thanks for bringing up the point about CPO. I didn't think of that.

The insurance cut me a check for $950 which is supposed to cover the windshield replacement and entire repaint of the hood. I hope it is enough for the windshield since I will try to touch up the hood myself.
