compound sticking

compound sticking
I tried doing my hood by hand and by buffer and either way the compound turns gummy and sticks to paint and is impossible to get off unless I wet the car or use my nail.
This is what I use and heres an example of what happens.
the small white spots are whats left over from me trying to scratch off a nickel size area that got gummy and stuck on there.
the compound is not old, i just bought it and the hood is not hot.
i actually have a spare fender that I heated up and tried buffing but it didnt have this issue.
what gives?

It looks like the hood has been repainted and the polish isn't reacting well with it for whatever reason. Sometimes this happens and the best thing to do is try some different products to find what works. You may need something with a little more lubrication. Menzerna polishes would be a good option.

First off this is a cleaner not a polish. The only time I have had this happen is when the cleaner was old. Buy some polish and try that. don't use the cleaner.
