Remove door handle on W166

Hi Folks,

I have a 2015 ML 350 BTec W166 chassis (Canada build, though not sure that matters here).

How does one go about removing the door handles on these vehicles?

I picked up some chrome door panel inserts for in the door handle "well" but need to remove each handle to install these.

Sure it's not difficult but would like some direction. Presume it's got something to do with those little round rubber "plugs" on the non-hinged, open side of each door?

Cheers,
TA Canada

Did you figure out how to remove the door handle or did you just install without removing?

I was told these are usually installed at port or dealer so I imagine they don't remove the door handles.

I removed a set from my car. You can thread them off with the handle pulled open so they probably go on the same way. It might be hard to avoid touching the adhesive strips to anything. Have you attempted a dry run with the backing still on?

Yup, tried a dry run and they just don't fit in any way with the door handle in place.
Thanks for the follow-up.
