ML 320 passenger side door -a black part in the lock flipped up vertical by mistake
I have a 2000 ML320 . While cleaning the lock assembly in the open passenger side door, i accidentally flipped up a black part up so now that black part has clicked into a vertical position, instead of the open horizontal position. As a result the door doesn't close - the vertical black part is preventing the door from closing. I am not sure if this is a child lock or what but my child lock switch has the dot showing not the child.
the doors make the open and lock noises both when I use the key and when I use the switch inside the car -- with the engine on and off. But this little black part doesn't seem to flip back
