Body shop/paint question...

My daughter's 10 year old ML350 is in the body shop for some insurance-covered repairs and she also has a scratch on the other side that spans two doors. Body shop wants an additional $700 cash to repaint that; does that seem like a good price?

It depends on the depth and location of the scratch. If I were you I would find a good detailer in your area and see what they say first. In my experience, body shops like to bondo and paint for anything. It's the surefire way to fix everything. Detailers often have a more cautious approach and will try everything up to and including touchup and wetsanding to get rid of a scratch that polishing and compounding can't remove. To me, it is worth having them try before deciding to paint two full body panels.

Is this a Mercedes Certified shop? If yes, then the price could be within reason.

I have a long-trusted shop that is MB Certified. Their estimate to repair a front door that was bumped by a shopping cart was $1,200. That included refinishing the door, painting that door and blending paint into the panels to each side of the door (rear door and front fender). If your car has a scratch on two doors, the correct (MB recommended) repair would be to refinish the scratched panels, then paint both doors and blend into both fenders on that side. $700 sounds reasonable, if they will do top quality work.

Hello guys,
I purchased a piano from a store and while I opened the passenger door to let down the seats to make room, the older gentleman from the store pushed the box in scratching my bumper badly. I couldn't bring myself to lose my mind about it and told myself it's just a car. But now I cant stand it. Is this a tape off, body fill, sand and use a can of touch up with primer job or do I have to take this to the auto body or are there other options?
