Back to Black but not plastic

Ok, so I like to detail all the plastic under the hood to a point it looks factory fresh without that drenched with Armorall look. However, when I see the plastic cowl covers I can make them look great but what can be used on the metal wiper arms? Something that will take a few wash jobs before I want to freshen it up again.

Any product advice? I haven’t tried ceramic coating yet (I just thought of that while writing this).

wiper arms tend to be painted, or powder coated or similar
SO treat them like painted part.

Wiper arms on an older car are usually neglected thus have oxidized/dull appearance.

To rejuvenate, you will need to remove the oxidation with a polish or cleaner wax, then strip with IPA or prep solvent, then seal with the ceramic/sealant/wax of your choice.

Raising the hood allows much easier access to the wiper arms. It’s not such a tough job, but makes a big difference in appearance.

Dont forget the cowl below the wipers when working on it.

For the metal wiper arms, a good option is to clean them thoroughly with a mild degreaser or all-purpose cleaner and then apply a durable product like a trim restorer or a non-glossy spray sealant designed for metal. While these won’t last forever, they can help repel water and dirt for a few washes before reapplication is needed. If you want something more long-lasting, ceramic coating could be worth trying, just make sure the arms are clean and dry before applying, and follow the coating’s instructions carefully. It provides excellent durability and keeps the metal looking fresh longer.
