1982 300 sd

1982 300 sd
Hello everyone. This is my first post and i am new to mercedes. I am thinking of purchasing a 1982 300 sd. The speedometer only goes to 80 mph and the transmition shifter goes 12d. Other sd models goe to 120 mph and the shifter says 23d. Do these cars have the same transmition in them. Will the 1982 model run 80 mph all day as the speed limit here is 75. Thanks for any help you can give.

I think most MB cars in the last 20 years have speedos going to 140 mph.
80 mph all day long is no problem for any modern cars (20 years or less).
