ML270 Removing and Plugging Swirl Flaps

I have a problem with the inlet manifold swirl flaps jamming and causing the car to go into limp home mode. I have removed the manifold from the car and then taken out the flaps. My issue is, I am not sure what size bolt should be used to plug the spindle holes. I note that the hole has a small solid / plastic bush / o-ring which is loose and rotates.
I have drilled the spindle holes out to 29/64th as I was originally going to tap a 1/2" UNF thread into the hole but I have read that a 14mm bolt is sometimes used. Can someone recommend the appropriate size bolt which should be used? Thanks

In my opinion it should not make any difference UNF or metric , so long as the hole is sealed properly , looks neat & the bolts are not too long & impinge on the gas flow.

Copper washers under the bolt head may seal better rather than relying on the thread. Also apply some high temp anti seize in case you want to remove them.

Thanks Casy,
Since posting ML270 Removing and Plugging Swirl Flaps, I have discovered that before you can tap a thread to plug the swirl flap holes you have to remove the yellow synthetic o-ring and then the seal. You are then left with approx. 12.5mm dia. hole. I have decided to use a 14mm Course thread tap as I have been advised that Course thread into plastic is advised.
