2012 e350 Bluetec temp gauge..what's normal?
Picked up our "new" 2012 today (20k miles) and getting used to things. Notice that the engine coolant gauge seems to consistently run above the "half way" mark and hovers somewhere between 80 and 100C. This your experience too? Or, where does your temp gauge seem to land after warm up? I'm new to Mercedes ownership, my four BMWs over the years all tended to lock in smack in the middle of the temp gauge, so this is different for me and wondering if normal. Thanks for any insights!

Out Of Control!!
You have a different type of thermostat and control than my diesel.
In any event mine in the Florida winter hovers around 80C. In the hottest Florida summers at idle will jump to the 90's then when accelerating always drops back to 80C.
If you know a good MB service writer, I would also pose that question, because to me your temps seem high!!

I'm guessing mine is exactly as designed as I replaced it last year with a Mercedes part designated as an 85C thermostat, I can totally live with it actually running 2 degrees C hotter at highway cruise speed (75-85mph posted here in Texas) as I consider that well within the margin of error for both the temperature sensor and the thermostat itself. It warms quickly and maintains that 87C across a very broad range of operating conditions according to my OBDII datalogger.
