A member of my family is looking to buy a 2005/2006 4X4 5 cylinder diesel Sprinter Van .It was formally an ambulance & has 40,000 Km on the clock. He intends using it for camping & towing a van.

I would be interested to know if there are any inherent faults with the vehicle & anything to check before purchasing?.

Thankyou.

John.

Go to http://sprinter-source.com/forum/ for more details. I just bought a T1N Sprinter passenger van myself. They are great and easy to drive.

Some basic things are:

1. Black Death same as on here (Injector leaks)
2. Rust - very common
3. Drive shaft center bearing issues can be expensive but that is on post 2006.
4. Electrical - Headlights/Tail lights
5. Slider door (minor)

I am not a fan of post 2006 - you can get the 170 WB but it is only ~6 inches longer in overall size.

There are more details on the forums I posted. Good Luck.
