How much power can a 716.6xx 6spd Gearbox handle?
Im working on a R107 with a M103, Holset HX-55... i have a e36 in sight with 520whp to CLOBBER..
So im looking into transiassion options that would bolt up to the M103. I found a 716.631 that i can pick up for $200.
But im not sure how much power these manual boxes can handle.
Below is a little background on me and my R107. Thanks.
97% documented.. Pics

MB diesels run forever, so nobody is messing with them, not to mention that MB never made 500 hp diesel for passenger cars. Not even close.
I have a 380sl.
I am swapping the M116 for a M103.
M103 and diesels share the same flange pattern.
So then the auto and manual boxes interchange.
It is documented that modified MB diesel exists (450hp) =
way more than 600 lb/ft torque. On a diesel.
Therefore; im simply putting out feelers to see "IF" anyone here is possibly running any manual boxes. If so which one (716.6xx)

Now talking about modifying MB diesel engines, this guy pull 600 HP form old 3-liter, but I doubt he is using any transmission you are considering

The MB never made a highpowered diesel motor. But it is possible.
so maybe if you stop trolling my post others who may be more knowledgeable than you are may still care to chime in.
