08 R320 CDI fuel leak
Anybody see this on their CDI? It was leaking from the fuel filter housing. I got it repaired a year ago and that piece has been fine since. It looks like it may be leaking from this high pressure fitting on what I think is the fuel pump. Sometimes when I pull up to my house I can see atomized fuel coming from under the hood. The fuel vapor is kind of random and I was unable to recreate the situation the other night when I tried.
Any advice or similar stories would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
Looks like the right side of the fitting is washed clean.
I find fuel collected around the silver fitting with the hose attached to it.

Fluids, especially diesel with air flows under the hood can show in totally different spot that it originated.
Wash the area and wrap with paper towel to pinpoint the leak.
That said I am not impress with quality of hoses on those engines.

On the steel lines, i have experienced a metal line blow out, the numb end under the fitting will crack due to pressure and will leak fuel, if you unscrew the fitting and look you might see a hairline crack starting, if that is happening you will have to replace the steel line.

Next time I had it in for service I pointed it out to the shop. It ended up being the rubber line. Just at the very end. They cut a little off and installed a new hose clamp. I was a little embarrassed it was that easy. It worked out good though, they didn't even charge me

The rubber line ends swell up all the time, diesel and rubber don't mix, the lines will get brittle and need replacing, very easy to fix, i normally keep 3 ft of rubber fuel hose in my trunk, so i know i have it all the time.
FYI. when you replace the rubber return lines, make sure to leave a bit of extra fuel hose so you can do a cut back when it start leaking.

Use Gates 30R10 spec hose, bit overkill at $30/foot but my lines have been perfect for 160k miles of the 224k miles on my CDI NOW. Not all rubber has an issue with diesel, 30R10 spec is working like a champ for me. I also use McMaster Carr smoothband EFI clamps, VASTLY superior to stock junk IMHO.
