Swirl motor resistor mod

Hi to everyone.I’ve only posted a few times since I joined here a couple years ago but this past week my 08 E320 Bluetec showed a P2015 and after doing a search here i was pretty amazed that a 25 cent 4.7K ohm resistor could fix that problem so I went ahead and did the mod a few days ago.It turned out perfectly.I also removed the top plastic engine cover so the engine could cool a little better.I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here for their helpful responses.I do appreciate it.

Make sure you have a high enough wattage resitistor as too low may checksum fine but burn up quickly with load applied to it. Lesson learned on V12 BMW 750il e38

Thanks for the heads up on that. The resistor I’m using is 1/4 watt.Is that okay to use?

I ended up using a pair of 5w but it’s all about the draw of the motor and Ohms law

50 milliwatts is well within the realm of a 1/4 watt rated resistor. What am I missing that you needed a pair of 5W resistors? Parallel or serial? What resistance did you use? You know ohm's law so you must also know what two resistors in parallel will do.
