PCV hose????
i have an appointment tomorrow to take the beast (2008 E320) in because of exhaust smell in the cabin. A friend was over yesterday and I was checking the power steering fluid level with the engine cover off of course and he noticed that the hose from the PCV valve to the intake was loose on the intake side and the orange seal was kind of crumpled. We pulled the hose off the intake and reseated the seal and then put the hose back on. Since then I haven’t smelled any exhaust in the cabin. Could this possibly fix the problem or do you think it’s just a coincidence? I don’t want to waste my mechanic’s time if this possibly solved the problem
Thanks!
Thanks!

How good is your nose?
Crankcase fumes have different smell than exhaust.
Than that part of intake operates mostly with vacuum, so the fumes would go out on only rare conditions.
Take the car for longer drive to retest it as first impression can be Placebo effect.

Good to hear no more smell, but that issue also brings additional questions.
- how bad is the blowby?
- something must be wrong with hood seal when fumes from engine bay enter cabin fresh air inlet.
