OM 642 PCV valve
OM 642 PCV valve
Good day and how are you all doing today. I have been watching a few videos on you tube and I am interested in changing my pcv valve as preventative maintenance. I have a 2011 E350 bluetec sedan, has about 80k milage on it. I had the oil cooler and seals replaced at about 63 k miles. While that was being done, the shop sent me pictures of the intake runners not clogged but heavily loaded with carbon and garb.
From what it sounds like, the PCV valve is often overlooked, and, can contribute to excessive oil being sucked into the turbo. I don't have any record of it being changed since I bought the car.(used) so, I have been looking around trying to find the part. 2 parts vendors have what I believe is the part I need, they call it a "secondary air injection control valve" the part number is MB 6420102391 With that number, I went to MB parts online, They call it a "bleeder valve" with that corresponding pn. Also 30 bucks less.
From what I can see, it looks like the part on my car, bolted to the backside of the engine, passengers side and a rubber hose running to the intake with a sensor plug just before the turbo. Are there any other gaskets I need to change this ? I cant find this on any drawings or blueprints so I don't know what else is needed.
Also, the part on the vendors site says For Bluetec 212.024 and code U42 Where do I Find these numbers on my vehicle to make sure they match, and what do they mean?
I didn't make it down to the dealer yesterday, and they are closed today so I'll have to wait until during the week to talk to them about this. Thanks, E350cruiser

First your local dealer will charge you a lot for the part and often you will have to wait for it anyway, so why not buy cheaper from internet dealer like https://www.mbdirectparts.com/ ?
When preemptive replacement is good for the car, it is not good for you wallet, so you have to evaluate the need.
My PCV valve has 187 k miles on it and as far as I know it was never cleaned.

I hear what you are saying about not replacing it unless I need to kajtek, but I don't mind replacing things that aren't too terribly expensive being that my milage is around 80k. Also, what I am trying to find out is this part the PCV valve? okay, picture wasn't loading but it looks like what I found from parts vendors.

When I need high-tech part, I always go to REPUTABLE seller (usually Husker) and start with my VIN.
Quite often EPC drawing will show several assembles, but my VIN will highlight the one I have on my car.
Seller will take your VIN anyway and will guarantee fitment.
