C CLASS 200 2010 CDI
My 2010 model c class 200 cdi is bring out black smoke and making serious engine noise is there fix without visiting auto shop because in my country will don't really have good diesel mechanics

In Nigeria they don't use much diesel cars, mainly petrol. Initially it started with the car not accelerating properly on hilly roads but when descending it works fine, this happen for about a year with the check engine light on, I 've been to several auto shops, each keeps allowing to spend money on useless repairs which never solve the problem and now the car has parked up. It's no longer moving properly, the black smoke is constant and the noise in the engine is very loud. I am really confuse cos as we speak the car is in another auto shop with the mechanic telling me I need a new engine, please any advice?
