cracked turbo air output pipe

Hello everyone,

i've found the turbo air output pipe is cracked on the edge. I wanted to ask if anyone had something similar and can it be fixed/welded or should i rather replace the whole turbo before it gets worse? The turbo itself works fine.

attached a few pictures.

Thanks everyone for input.

adding to my post above:

would that be an option getting another turbo as a donor and remove the front housing from it and replace my cracked one with it. Could probably do it without having to remove it off the car?

any thoughts?

That looks like casting flaw.
I would take it to regional MB representative.
Even car is out of warranty, MB doesn't like such publicity and does "Good will".
I had situation when wire harness burned on my fuel pump, who was mounted inside the tank.
Car was like 6 yo, yet MBUSA paid for new pump. Good luck.

On the picture it looks like that casing had an impact of some sort, there is an indentation on the edge. If i would take it to MB dealership and if they would notice this as well, they would charge me for their time and say goodbye? or maybe not?
Thanks for your insight. I did not think of that. Its worth having a think about it.

You have better view than I do.
But looks to me like you can still slide hose over it and with double clamps make it seal?
There is no good stuff that will hold in that crack, although good welder might fix it.

An experienced TIG welder can drill the crack to stop it from spreading and weld it up. It does look like its been dropped before though.

i would think tig welding probably would to the job. I am toying with the idea getting same code turbo and swapping the front side of the housing. There should not be any problem unless the donor turbo would appear to have a different front housing part.
ordered a donor turbo already. Will see how it goes. Will be posting updates.
